Del Mar Races Open Today!

Cool as ever. That is the tag line for the races in Del Mar and it is true! Enjoy ocean breezes and have a great time watching the horse races. The Del Mar Fair opens on Friday June 3rd and runs until July 4th.  This is such a fun event.  Farm animals, sinful fair food (love the Indian Fry Bread!!), grand stand events and so much more!  Plan to stay at Pelican Cove and you can take the Coaster to the Solana Beach train station.  There is a free shuttle that runs between the train station and the fair grounds.  Great way to go to avoid dealing with traffic. Art Splash!!

Wednesday Night Farmer's Market

I am so glad I made it up the to newly redone Farmer's Market here in the Village of Carlsbad.  So many wonderful choices and so nicely set up.  It really adds so much to the Farmer's Market experience.  The Market is just a few blocks away from the Pelican Cove Inn and since it is open from 3 to 7, you can walk up and enjoy a great evening in Carlsbad.  Make sure to check it out when you are in town on a Wednesday.

Carlsbad 5000: Another Successful Race in 2013

The Carlsbad 5000 was run here in Carlsbad on this past Sunday.  It is so nice that the Inn is walking distance to the Start and Finish of the race.  I had 7 of my 10 rooms occupied by at least one runner.  Come stay with us next year for this fun weekend! www.pelican-cove.com

Art Splash...A Success

Art Splash was, as usual, a huge success. The artwork created by the volunteer artists for this event is absolutely amazing. And to think, it will be erased today. I am so glad I was able to capture a few images to keep for you to view. Make plans to be in Carlsbad next September for this annual event.

Art Splash!!!

Art Splash is coming!! This event celebrates the arts and food here in Carlsbad with all the proceeds going to help local schools. Local businesses buy squares that the volunteer artists turn into art. The above picture was done a few years ago by local artist Martin Leon. The event occurs on September 25th and 26th. Check out the Art Splash website www.carlsbadartsplash.org for more information. The event is a short drive from the Inn (less than 10 minutes) and worth the trip!

Mercury Insurance Women's Tennis At La Costa

Great tennis and the beach. What a combination! The Mercury Insurance Women's Tennis Open http://www.mercuryinsuranceopen.com/ will be held at La Costa Resort here in Carlsbad from July 31st to August 8th 2010. The resort is about 10 minutes away from the Pelican Cove and we still have rooms available for some of these dates. Come stay at the beach and enjoy some terrific tennis!

Switchfoot BroAm Event

The lovely family shown above are the Gallagher bunch. They come every year and help out with the Switchfoot BroAm that is in Encinitas at Moonlight Beach.
