Day Trip to San Juan Capistrano Mission

 Taking the train to the San Juan Capistrano Mission is a fun day trip from the Pelican Cove Inn www.pelican-cove.com .  You can either take the coaster to Oceanside from Carlsbad Village or drive to Oceanside and park at the train station there. You can then catch the Amtrak or Metrolink from Oceanside to San Juan Capistrano.  It is only about a 30 minute ride along the coast.  The train stops across the street from the Mission and there are lots of shops and restaurants to spend a little time.  My friend and I ate at a place called Sundried Tomato and it was fabulous.  Great way to spend a day!

Carlsbad Flower Fields

The Flower Fields of Carlsbad are open and will soon be in full bloom. We have had cooler weather which will make the bloom even more spectacular than normal since there will be more sections blooming at one time.  Easter should be a perfect time to visit.  You can check out the Flower Fields website at www.theflowerfields.com .  Come stay at Pelican Cove www.pelican-cove.com and purchase one of the picnic basket/flower field packages to enjoy the fields and a delicious lunch.

Carlsbad Strawberries Are Back!!!

All I can say is "YUM"!!!  We are so lucky in Carlsbad to have three consecutive strawberry growing seasons.  We will get these beauties until September.  Nothing adds color to a breakfast plate like bright red strawberries.  You can even go and pick your own if you want to.  Come stay at Pelican Cove Inn www.pelican-cove.com and enjoy some with YOUR breakfast!
